In the summer of 2020, in collaboration with the Crenshaw Dairy Mart,
I began organizing a series of free art supply kits. At first we partnered with
Lauren Halsey’s Summaeverythang Community Center to distribute the kits
to families in Watts and South Central, Los Angeles, and then later worked
with The Mistake Room to give out kits in the Pico-Union neighborhood.
In each kit is a zine with lessons by two artists that explains how to use the
included materials. So far we’ve handed out over 1,000 art supply kits.
